London Train

On a London train its pouring down with rain
I’ve seen so many people now to me they look the same
Hanging onto suitcases sandwiches and beer
Then its tickets please all passengers the buffet at the rear

And it doesn’t really matter cause we’ll soon be out of here

I’m a visiting assessor hospitals are not like home
And I’ll talk of opportunity living on your own
To a woman from Northumberland with a son about my age who’s course is business studies is demanding at this stage

Such a chronic lack of opportunity for kids these days…she says

In Runcorn the rooftops are brown
In Chester the carriage is thrown around
In Oxford I process my dreams
And I always seem to fall asleep somehow before we get to Milton Keynes

On a London train
