Vote for Me11/09/2019

The second video taken from the new album WHILE YOU STILL CAN [due 28.10.19]  is ‘Vote for Me‘, the track opens the new album setting the atmosphere before the noise kicks in. It was shot in a deserted garage beyond the beatific fringes of The Forrest of Dean by longterm VP collaborator Andy Squiff and features a blonde politician gently imploding. You get the idea. I hope you enjoy the track, and please do feel free to share the video. The album will be available on 12inch Black Vinyl, Digipack CD and via the usual download sites and you can pre order now via BANDCAMP or through the VP website. Thanks ever so in anticipation, support much appreciated and best wishes as always VPx

We will be playing a full band show at The Castle Hotel in Manchester on Tues 26th Nov tickets available here and now, and a string of shows in March 2020 be great to see you there. More gig details on the gig pages

New Album Pre Order24/08/2019

I’m thrilled to announce the new Vinny Peculiar album WHILE YOU STILL CAN will come out 28.10.19, its a harder rockier and in parts darker VP record than previous releases. It’s available on 12”Vinyl [which includes download code] on Digi Pack CD and to download from iTunes, Amazon and the likes. It’ll also be available to stream via Spotify. Its available to pre order via BANDCAMP or from the VP website. Please do support it if you can and do feel free to share and post your impressions on social media as every little helps. The first video from the album is by Hotdog Animations for the song – ‘Pop Music For Ugly People’  – the song explores political opportunism and personal greed and it sets the tone and direction of the album which also includes songs about government media blackouts [Ministry of Fate], class A drugs as form of social control [Let Them Take Drugs] missing politicians [Question Time] and a song lampooning selfie culture vanity and celebrity [Diane Abbott Takes A Selfie]. WHILE YOU STILL CAN is also very much a band album, the drums are loud and mixed centre stage and the guitars are mostly up to eleven. We are also doing videos for ‘Vote For Me‘ & ‘Question Time’ so please do check social media for updates. I hope you enjoy the album as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together. The band this time around are ex Parlour Flames and current Black Grape drummer Che BeresfordOllie Collins [bass] and Rob Steadman [keys] – both also former Parlour Flames members. The album was produced in Pershore UK by Dave Draper [Return of the Native] and in Southport by David Marsden [Silver Meadows, Root Mull Affect] I am indebted to both for their diligent attention to detail and support.MANCHESTER BAND SHOW

We play a rare band gig to launch the album on Tuesday November 26th 2019 at THE CASTLE HOTEL Oldham Street Manchester, tickets on sale now, with more band dates to come in the new year, THE CASTLE is our favourite Manchester small venue so well worth getting your tickets sooner than later. Opening the night will be Glossop Songwriting legend [and personal favourite of mine]  Steve Roberts Hope to see you there and thanks as ever for the support,

Pop Music for Ugly People04/08/2019

Well here we go again its new album release time soon so I’m doing the usual online notifications. The album title  WHILE YOU STILL CAN  comes from one of my dads favourite expressions about ‘doing something useful while you still can’. Not that I think he would have liked it that much but he would have appreciated the effort! The record seemed to take on a few political themes as the writing moved forward, I guess I’ve been watching and wailing with the rest at the political crisis we face, the lunacy of Brexit, the vanity of social media, Trump on twitter, everyone on everything else. So I think this new record is in part a response to all that. I’ve also indulged my love of hard rock guitars  [I grew up in the era of guitar heroes]. I should add not all of it is politically themed, some is more or less typical VP, whatever that means…

Heres the first video Pop Music for Ugly People, 4 minutes of graphic anarchy from the fabulously subversive Hot Frog Animations, I love their dystopian cartoonery, the title comes from the oft quoted ‘Politics is just show business for ugly people’ its a study of sorts into political opportunism, greed, corruption, lies, all the usual traits…do feel free to share with friends, thanks ever so Vx
